History Group Report

On Sunday 10th May 2015 The Launcells History Group held a Cream Tea in aid of
V E Day 70 year Celebrations.
Gordon Abbott with his wife Christine were Guests of Honour and joined the Visitors and Members of the Launcells History Group in a Cream Tea. There was also a display of Photographs and Memorabilia of W W 2.
As a young boy of six years of age Gordon Abbott found himself Evacuated. He travelled from London's Waterloo Station to Bude in Cornwall.
After a short stay with Mr & Mrs Rowe he finally took up lodging with Mr & Mrs Ambrose Newton of Jewells Farm Grimscott and then in November 1941 Mr & Mrs Newton bought Shernick Farm where he stayed with them until after the War.
The proceeds of the Cream Tea went to the British Red Cross.
